Meet our Pastor

As a very young child, Pastor Wade grew up in church and can remember crawling up under a pew and falling asleep. He recalls that as a child, his father pastored a church in Chicago on Skid Row.

Pastor Wade started playing drums in the church from a young age. His first drum set was a toy set he got for Christmas. When his Pastor at the time found out he had started playing drums in school and had a drum set, he encouraged Wade to bring that toy set to church, set them up behind the piano, and play along. From there, he learned and went on to be the church drummer.

Pastor Wade has four brothers. As kids, they began to sing together, becoming the Blankenship Brothers. They have played and sang in churches all over Southwest Michigan.

Pastor credits much of his Bible knowledge to the time he studied as a teacher in the Sunday school. He has taught every class in the church except the nursery class. Even before he was the youth leader of his home church, he had already begun to speak and minister to the church.

So, Pastor Wade has been in ministry for over 45 years. During those 45 years, he has worked as assistant Pastor at various churches and founded a work in Williamson, WV, in the 80s. He and his wife Tina have pastored New Freedom Church in Coloma for the past 30 years.

Pastor Wade and Tina married in 1975. They have three children and five grandchildren. Two of their children are involved in the ministry of the church. Sommer Daughtery leads our worship team, and Shane Blankenship is the church drummer.

Pastor Wade and Tina love to meet new people and sincerely appreciate those they've known forever. Much of their ministry is one-on-one with people or a couple in counseling. How can they be of service to you and your family? Pastor Wade would like nothing better than for you and your family to visit New Freedom Church and become a part of our New Freedom Church Family.

One of Pastor Wade's favorite sayings is: "A GOOD WEEK BEGINS ON SUNDAY!"
